BOTOX® Cosmetic is an FDA-approved prescription product that temporarily improves the appearance of both moderate to severe frown lines between the brows and moderate to severe crow’s feet in adults.
Wrinkles can come from a combination of many factors. It’s not solely due to cellular changes, collagen depletion, or damage caused by free radicals. When you frown or concentrate, the muscles between your brows contract, causing your skin to furrow and fold. And when you squint, the muscles around your eyes contract and cause crow’s feet.
BOTOX® Cosmetic works beneath the skin’s surface and targets the underlying muscle activity that causes frown lines and crow’s feet to form over time. We inject BOTOX® into the muscles that cause frown lines and crow’s feet lines, temporarily reducing the activity of those muscles. The result is a reduction in the appearance of those lines.
We will discuss your treatment goals and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate botox treatment areas for you. The actual injection process takes about 10 minutes.
There is virtually no downtime after injections of Botox®️ Cosmetic. You can have it done during your lunch hour and go back to work immediately. The only exceptions are that you should not exercise or lie down for several hours after having Botox. In both cases these activities can activate the muscles and cause Botox to move to nearby muscles.
Most people will feel a tiny pinch. If you are sensitive, your cosmetic specialist can use some ice to numb the area, or apply numbing cream before beginning. You may have some minor irritation afterwards.
Yes, as long as you go to a licensed and experienced certified injector. Ever seen the horrific photos of botox parties gone wrong? That’s what can happen if you aren’t absolutely sure about the source of your product.
Botox is a neurotoxin that relaxes muscles to smooth out lines and wrinkles. When injected, Botox temporarily improves the look of moderate to severe crow’s feet, frown lines, and lines between the eyebrows.
Typically the effects of Botox will last 3 to 4 months. You won’t see the effects immediately and it normally takes a few weeks to see the final result. After 4 months, more injections will be needed to maintain the effects. If you are planning a special event, be sure to allow enough time to see the full effects.
